In 2018, RMBV partnered with the founders of Gemelli, a Durban-based vertically integrated apparel business started in 1982.

Activities include design, manufacture, wholesale and retail of clothing and related accessories. The quality of the business and its people has seen Gemelli prosper over the past 20 years when the South African clothing manufacturing industry was decimated. Part of the investment thesis is backing the worldwide trend of increasing local procurement in the clothing retail industry as retailers seek to enhance competitiveness through flexibility, short lead times and intra-reason responsiveness to market trends. The business targets the lower-LSM value fashion segment, where there is significant growth potential in South Africa.
